Description

Dwarf Lanes Late Navel Orange (Citrus sinensis ‘Lanes Late Navel’)

First discovered in NSW in 1954, the Lanes Late navel orange has understandably become quite a popular late season option in Australia. In terms of appearance and quality, it’d be almost identical to the Washington Navel, with the main difference being the fact that its fruit ripens a little later in the season. As a dwarf, the tree is a reasonably good grower, getting anywhere from 1.5 – 2m tall. At this size, it would be right at home either in the ground or in a pot where it’ll stay even smaller.

The fruit itself is of very good quality, being large, very sweet and juicy, with no seeds. At maturity, this orange tree is a reliable producer when planted in ideal conditions. If you have room in your yard, and an interest in having oranges for a good portion of the year, a Lanes Late would be great planted alongside a Navelina and Washington Navel which ripen earlier.
