Description
Lanes Late Navel Orange (Citrus sinensis ‘Lanes Late Navel’)
The Lanes Late navel orange was first discovered in NSW in 1954, so it’s quite a popular late season option in Australia. It’s almost identical to the Washington Navel, other than the fact that its fruit ripens a little later in the season. The tree is a good grower, getting anywhere from 3 – 4m tall, and is a reliable producer when planted in ideal conditions.
The fruit itself is of very good quality, being large, very sweet and juicy, with no seeds. If you have the space in your yard, and an interest in having oranges for a good portion of the year, it would be a great addition to plant alongside a Navelina and Washington Navel which ripen earlier.
If you’ve only got limited space or you’d like to put your tree in a pot, consider our Dwarf Lanes Late Navel Orange variety.
