Description
(Citrus limon Eureka Seedless)
Yes, this is still the Eureka lemon we know and love, but now it’s seedless! This backyard favourite shares its lineage with the original Eureka, which was initially grown in California using seeds imported from Italy.
The fruit can be quite big, with a good amount of tangy, tart juice and dense flesh. It has what we lovingly call a ‘stereotypical lemon flavour’ which is fresh and clean. Eureka lemons have a nice thick skin which makes it ideal for zesting and the juice itself has a good acidic content that’s suitable for cooking, baking, and drinks.
At maturity, this is a tree that can produce quite heavily. Its main crop lemons will ripen over late autumn and winter, though Eureka’s are known for their ability to spot fruit during the spring and summer as well.
This makes them an ideal choice if you’re after a more ‘lemony-lemon’ that will provide fruit for a good portion of the year.
They’re a strong grower that’s relatively upright with the potential to reach up to 5 or 6m. With regular pruning, you can easily encourage bushier growth and a more manageable height for things like maintenance and fruit harvesting.
