Description

(Citrus limettioides)

The Sweet Lime has long been a popular choice for backyards and balconies across the world. It’s a smaller fruit and more round than common limes found at the grocery store.
As a tree, it’s a decent grower that can reach anywhere from 2.5 – 4m in height, depending on the conditions. It has large, sturdy dark green leaves and big white buds and flowers in the spring, making it a very pretty feature option for a nice large pot.

Known for its low acidity, this lime is so sweet you can eat it right off the tree when it’s fully ripened; this will be when it’s a soft, pale yellow colour. The soft flavour captures the essence of lime, while lacking much of the tartness.
Their flavour will be slightly stronger if picked when green, which is usually better for cooking and flavouring drinks, as the taste will get milder as they ripen.

Generally, they don’t have as many seeds as other lime varieties, though there can still be some.

Please note: These trees are part of our specialty range and are often limited in stock. We only have generic labels for these trees, as we only grow them in small quantities.
